Cubanelle peppers are started 6-8 weeks before last frost. The Cubanelle Pepper has thin walls and an elongated shape, that curls slightly at the blossom end. It has a sweet heat, yet mild flavor that is excellent for stuffing! The Cubanelle Pepper is an heirloom pepper and changes from yellow/green to a vivid red when it's at it's peak ripeness. Cubanelle's are usually ready to pick at the end of the growing season around August/September.

How To
Be sure to start your pepper seeds 6-8 weeks before your last expected frost date. Sow seeds approximately 1/4" deep in individual cells or 4" pots. Start seedlings with grow lights and keep the light close to the soil, slowly raising them as the seedlings grow, this will avoid leggy plants. Keep young pepper plants warm, around 75°.
Be sure to only set out young pepper plants that have shown several sets of true leaves. And only once the soil temperature is consistently above 65°.

Pepper plants have friends and foes, and companion planting will help ensure vigorous growth. Peppers are good companions to basil, carrots, eggplant, onions, parsley and tomatoes. They don't do well near fennel.
